چکیده

The spinnability of a spinning solution using DMSO as the solvent was investigated for dry-jet wet spinning of PAN precursor fiber. Among many variables responsible for spinnability, the coagulating conditions, the air gap length, the nonsolvent content in spinning solution, and the spinning temperature have been viewed as the key factors, and they were investigated in this study. It was found however, unlike in the wet spinning, the spinnability in dry-jet wet spinning process was barely influenced by the coagulating conditions, likely attributable to the existence of the air gap. However, the spinnability worsened when the air gap was longer than 30 mm. The quality of the spinning solution deteriorated with the increasing water content in it. The spinnability improved when the spinning temperature was maintained between 60 and 728C and turned down once the temperature was over 728C. The experimental results indicated that all the factors should be comprehensively considered to ensure good spinnability in dry-jet wet spinning process. 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cellulose regeneration and spinnability from ionic liquids.

Ionic liquid solutions of cellulose or dopes can be spun into Lyocell-type textile fibers by dry-jet wet spinning. An extruded dope is drawn over an air gap into water, where the water hydrates the ionic liquid and cellulose is regenerated. Spinnability studies have concentrated on the deformation and failure modes in the air gap and thus the rheology of the unhydrated spinning dope. Herein, a ...

Correlated Effect of Air Gap and PVP Concentration on the Structure and Performance of PVDF Ultrafiltration Hollow Fiber Membrane

Polyvinylidene fluoride/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVDF/PVP) hollow fiber membranes were fabricated by dry-jet wet-spinning process. The correlated effects of the air gap length and PVP concentration ((1) the air gap length effect at the low and high PVP concentration in the dope solutions, as well as (2) the effect of the PVP concentration at the same air gap length) on the cross-section structure ...

Preparation and performance of biofouling resistant PAN/chitosan hollow fiber membranes

The preparation of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) hollow fiber (HF) membranes has been carried out by dry-jet wet spinning. PAN HF membranes were coated with chitosan biopolymers 2 wt% by dip coating and further crosslinked by chemical reagents (Tri sodium polyphosphate). PAN HF (Virgin) and PAN/chitosan coated membrane were characterized by SEM and tested for water flux. Proteins Pepsin, Albumin, and...

Strength and Water Interactions of Cellulose I Filaments Wet-Spun from Cellulose Nanofibril Hydrogels

Hydrogels comprising cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) were used in the synthesis of continuous filaments via wet-spinning. Hydrogel viscosity and spinnability, as well as orientation and strength of the spun filaments, were found to be strongly affected by the osmotic pressure as determined by CNF surface charge and solid fraction in the spinning dope. The tensile strength, Young's modulus and degre...

Versatile Molding Process for Tough Cellulose Hydrogel Materials

Shape-persistent and tough cellulose hydrogels were fabricated by a stepwise solvent exchange from a homogeneous ionic liquid solution of cellulose exposure to methanol vapor. The cellulose hydrogels maintain their shapes under changing temperature, pH, and solvents. The micrometer-scale patterns on the mold were precisely transferred onto the surface of cellulose hydrogels. We also succeeded i...
